Bumble Bee Gardens’ approach to landscaping is a wholistic one. Our methods are organic, simple and strive to create harmony in the garden by encouraging the natural relationship between flora and fauna.
Your garden, big or small, urban or rural, can help restore native plant communities that form the habitat needed to support local pollinators and other fauna. The presence of wildlife will contribute to pollination, seed dispersal and return organic matter back to the soil creating a natural cycle of renewal.
Our choice of plants considers site specific conditions, colour and texture throughout the seasons as well as the habitat needs of local pollinators. The end result is a beautiful garden that is alive and exciting.
All garden designs begin with a consultation that involves a general walk around the garden and an exchange of ideas. The first consultative hour is free.
Moving forward, we create a budget estimate, exploratory design drawings to help you envision a final garden layout and discuss a preliminary plant list. Once the final design and plant list is approved, we finalize the budget and begin installation.
Bumble Bee Gardens guarantees the success of the garden when we care for it. We use ‘hands-on’ methods to maintain plant and soil health. Our weeding and pruning technique is manual. Our approach is easy going, always working with the plants and sculpting the garden as it evolves.
We encourage our clients to leave leaf litter in the garden. Fallen leaves act as a blanket protecting roots in the winter and as a mulch in the spring. Leaves are also the best and cheapest method to fertilize your plants and feed your soil. We also leave many plants up throughout the winter season to provide seeds for overwintering birds. The bonus is a beautiful, peaceful winter garden.
